TIPS AND IDEAS FOR KITCHEN ISLANDS

Kitchen island designs are one of the most popular features in homes these days. There are many factors that go into creating the perfect kitchen island design for your home. One of the most important factors to consider when designing a kitchen island is, what is going to be the primary function. So then the client needs to determine what they are going to be using it for.

Is it going to be for storage, food prep, extra eating space or solely entertaining purposes?

By taking inventory of your kitchen and deciding what works for you, will allow you to narrow down the choices you need to make. This will also ensure a great result at the end.

Once you determine the function of your island, you will need to figure out the size.

The island must be large enough to accommodate all your needs but not so big that it overpowers your kitchen. On the other hand a very small island in a large kitchen will look lost and out of place.

There are also different shapes of islands you need to consider as well.

L-shaped and U-shaped provide a larger amount of counter space and are best for a larger kitchen. The post popular island shape is the galley shape, which allows the most accessibility and functionality. The last two are Rolling islands and circular islands.

These are great for small spaces and definitely make a statement.

A kitchen island adds the extra POP to any kitchen. Although it should be aesthetically pleasing, it also needs to be functional above all else.
